Founded in 1998, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University is a public professional university located in Dwarka, New Delhi. Officially recognized by UGC and accredited by NAAC, the university offers various courses at UG, PG and doctorate level to approximately 60,000 -70,000 students. The programs are offered in the field of journalism & mass communication, law, education, nursing, physiotherapy, pharmacy, medicine, management, architcture, technology, and engineering.

The university has eventually gained enormous popularity amongst students from all parts of the country. This is due to the structural changes implemented by the management recently. Their aim is to focus on Student-centred learning system where students will be kept in the middle of the education system. For this purpose, they have come up with a new slogan 'Student First, which keeps students as top priority. 

To support this initiative, the university has introduced new policies which revolve around students welfare and benefit. According to latest reports the University is accepting applications from students who want to study Economics (Hons).The course is a three-year degree programs in Bachelor of Arts (Hons).The affiliated institutes of the university will welcome students to apply for this course from the academic session 2017-18.

For this, the students will have to appear for CET (Common Entrance Test) and clear it by scoring the required cut-off marks.Apart from the newly launched course, IP University also started PG courses in nursing-cardiovascular and thoracic nursing. For these courses, the minimum eligibility to take admission is to have a B.Sc. Nursing degree with 55 per cent marks and a valid work experience of a minimum one-year in the field of nursing.

IP University is one of the most preferred institutes due to their initiative to provide financial assistance and encourage meritorious students from the economically weaker section. In this regard, they have announced an increase in the amount of scholarship from Rs. 3 lakh to Rs. 1.84 crore.
